EastEnders casts Dot Branning's sister. CHAIN-SMOKING Dot Branning is set for a tearful reunion with her long-lost sister on EastEnders. The laundrette worker, played by June Brown, will be seen trying to get in contact with her sister Rose after a row caused the pair to lose touch years earlier.Dot hasn't seen Rose, who will be played by 67-year-old ex-Eldorado actress Polly Perkins, after her sister bedded the Albert Square veteran's con-artist first hubby Charlie Cotton. A fretful Dot decides to search for her estranged sibling after a bout of hypochondria leads her to worry she's about to pop her clogs and decides to track down Rose.

Talking about the new character, an EastEnders spokesman hinted that Rose may be hiding a dark secret.

The spokesman said: "Flighty, fun and not one to grow old gracefully, Rose couldn't be more different to Dot and she certainly isn't pleased to see her after all these years.
